Small kibble fussy sausages finish
Grain free, one main protein
Made in the UK, for dachshunds only
As seen on:
• Duck - Duck is a lean, nutrient-dense source of protein and also provides nutrients such as iron, selenium, B vitamins and zinc which contribute towards general health and wellbeing. • Orange is well-known for being rich in vitamin C, an anti-oxidant which can help support the immune system. • More energy • Fewer and smaller stools • Healthier skin • Shinier coat • Less shedding • Better breath • Reduces itching and licking • Our Food is Grain & Gluten Free
A novel protein in a genuinely small kibble, which is a rarer combination than it sounds.
Duck is uncommon enough to be worth trying when chicken and beef are out, and this is one of the few recipes where it comes in a dachshund-sized kibble rather than a standard one. That matters more than owners expect. A dachshund has a long narrow jaw and small teeth, and a piece of kibble built for a bigger dog is awkward to pick up and harder to chew, so they give up partway through and walk off. Small kibble removes the mechanical problem, novel protein removes the dietary one.

“Dog seems to be enjoying this food & its a much better sized kibble for her to eat & her coat seems to be soft & shiny”
Verified review
If duck is already part of the rotation and being left, try the Venison or Pork.
Grated cheese, a bit of chicken, standing over them while it goes cold. You have tried raw, subscriptions and the vet's recommendation, and you are still doctoring every meal.

Swap to a sausage-sized kibble
Small kibble, one main protein, no grain. Sized for a dachshund jaw rather than shrunk down from a Labrador recipe.
3
Empty bowl, every meal
They wolf it down, lick the bowl clean and come running at teatime. That is the whole point.
The fussy test
Made for the sausage who refuses everything
Of the 1,447 reviews owners have left on our food, the single most common thing they tell us is that their fussy sausage finally ate. Not that it is nutritious. That the bowl went empty.
“Finally after 9 years I have found a food that my dog will eat”
Verified review, Superfood Angus Beef
Why it works
Your sausage is not fussy. The kibble is too big.
A dachshund has a long, narrow jaw and small teeth. Standard kibble is awkward to pick up and harder to chew, so they give up and walk away. This recipe is made small from the start, which is the one thing a general premium brand cannot copy.
“Finally! A perfect sized kibble which has worked wonders for sensitive tums.”

What happens next
The coat other people comment on
Once they are eating properly, owners tell us the coat is the first thing that changes. It is the second most mentioned thing in our food reviews, and often it is somebody else who spots it first.
“Everyone comments on how shiny his coat is”

My precious little dachshund loves this food, she has had many teeth removed so the small kibble is perfect!
The pictures tell the story.
When the box arrives, Rocket knows what it is. We always alternate between different flavours to give him some variety but I honestly don’t think he’d be bothered if he had the same flavour every time 🚀🌭
We’re just coming to the end of our 3rd 2kg bag of the Duck, Sweet Potato and Orange. I couldn’t find any biscuits she liked before these. She loves duck so I thought it was worth giving these a try and she liked them straight away. The small size is great! She especially enjoys a meal of 50% duck biscuits mixed with 50% slowly cooked beef or turkey mince or duck meat. They smell good too - and work well for a game of ‘sniffy’. (Hiding biscuits for her to find, when some entertainment is needed on rainy days.) Thank you for making such lovely and nutritious products! 😊
I wanted to find some food for my little sausage as he had dandruff and dry feet. And my long haired girl had dry fur also .
On month two now with the new diet and they love it (always a bonus!!)
The kibble isn’t too big as most of them are ,and now I can honestly say my long haired girl is shinny her breath has improved and she is more satisfied (less greedy)
And the little sausage is dandruff free and also free of dry feet !!!
So I’m a regular customer from now !!!
Pascal absolute loves his Sausage Dog Sanctuary foodies! He's enjoyed the many flavours in the past, but his current favourite is Duck - never an empty bowl! Highly recommended.
Always a dilemma at dinner time ....which one to choose. She absolutely loves her dinner and also enjoys the treats as well. Thank you Sausage Dog Sanctuary.
This is Seb and he is on his second bag of Sausage Dog Sanctuary Food.
He absolutely loves it, wolfs down his food every night and now reminds me it’s tea time. Before finding this wonderful food, he would go days without eating and the vet said don’t worry he is just fussy. Now I feel like he actually enjoys what he’s eating and as ever his coat is still shiny and his teeth healthy.
Thanks for the extra dental treats!!!
We love the sausage boxes! These come with such a variety of treats, some which we’ve never heard or seen in the shops before. The boys love them and keep the. Busy for ages! It’s a good price aswell for all the goodies which you receive.
I have noticed a vast improvement in my dogs coat, energy levels, & their stools!!
It’s also reassuring for me that they are actually eating, as they are so fussy
My 2 miniatures have been a nightmare with their feeding, so fussy.
I slowly introduced the food, & I could not believe it when I heard them crunching away!! I feel the small kibble makes a huge difference, as they are not fans of the larger kibbles.
I will be setting up my subscription. Thank you so much, Nicola, Matilda, & Mufasa 🩷💙

We've got answers!
Got Questions?
It is the first thing owners ask, so here is the honest answer. Most fussy sausages do take to it. Some do not.
That is exactly why we sell every recipe in a 2kg bag. Start there rather than a 12kg, so if yours is one of the ones who says no, you have spent a few pounds finding out instead of filling a cupboard. If the first protein does not land, try a different one. Owners often tell us the third flavour was the one.
On selected recipes, yes. Look for Small Kibble in the product name. Those are made small from the start for a dachshund jaw, rather than being a shrunk-down version of a bigger dog's food.
The rest of the range is a standard kibble size. If your sausage struggles to pick pieces up, or gives up chewing partway through a bowl, start with one of the Small Kibble recipes.
Slowly. Mix a quarter of the new food with three quarters of the old for two or three days, then move to half and half, then three quarters, then all new. Give it about a week in total.
Going straight to 100% on day one is the most common cause of loose stools during a switch, and it is easily avoided.
If you have no particular issue to work around, chicken or lamb are the usual starting points and the two most bought.
If your sausage has a sensitive stomach, owners tend to do well starting on a fish recipe. If they are carrying a bit of extra weight, look at the Light range. If they are under a year, start on a Puppy recipe.
No. You can buy a one-off bag any time and never hear from us about it again.
A subscription is there if you want it, mostly so you are not reordering manually every few weeks. You can pause or cancel it yourself whenever you like.
It depends on the size of your sausage and how much they are fed, but as a rough guide a 2kg bag will last a typical mini dachshund around three to four weeks, and a standard around two.
Feeding guidelines are printed on every bag, and there is a feeding calculator on the site if you would rather work it out by weight.
